As a member of the Data Engineering team, you have the unique opportunity to apply your technical talents to a new team being built from the ground up. You come with the relentless desire to improve the practice of data engineering and its impact on the business every day.

As a data technician reporting directly to the team’s Senior Manager, you are responsible for helping develop and support Contrast’s data ecosystem. This includes data pipelines, schema management, analytics data storage, and related metrics/KPIs. You maintain a vigilant eye on the business data needs while developing the technology to answer the most important questions of internal and external stakeholders.

An ideal candidate can help organize around problems, define outcomes, plan achievement and execute by writing scalable code. As such, you must be an excellent communicator in written word as well as in code.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of end to end data solutions including data collection and storage, data modeling, and data consumption.
  • Build, test, and maintain data pipeline architectures.
  • Craft code to analyze Contrast’s data to support the needs of internal and external business stakeholders.
  • Develop a vested interest in learning everything there is to know about Contrast’s data and all the nuances of security data in general.
  • Support the development of data-intensive pipelines for filling a data lake.
  • Build solutions to prepare and transform data into a usable state for multi-platform consumption.
  • Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts including source-to-target mappings, transforms, and data lineage.
  • Design and manage monitoring and alerting of your systems and their support.

About You:

  • You have a passion for Data. You see it as something that is a corporate asset.

  • If you had to do it a second time, you wrote it down. If you had to do it a third, you automated it.
  • Technical experience using AWS or other cloud providers
  • Expertise in one language such as Python but demonstrable experience dabbling in the right language for the job
  • Experience analyzing data by applying basic statistical methods or even Machine Learning, and definitely knowing which is right when
  • You value Agile practices and apply them to the organization of your work.
  • It is not in your nature to give someone what they ask for. Rather, you want to understand the need and ensure it is satisfied.
  • You are transparent - especially when you have made a mistake.
  • You write down everything.
